PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) -A person familiar with the Buffalo Bills plans has told The Associated Press that the team intends to release veteran linebacker Aaron Schobel today.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity on Wednesday because the Bills have not made an announcement.
The move would come two days after general manager Buddy Nix said the Bills are moving on without their leading pass-rusher, who has spent the entire offseason contemplating retirement.
A nine-year NFL veteran, Schobel hasn’t entirely ruled out playing one more season. Once released, he would become a free agent.
The Bills did not return a message left with them.
ESPN first reported the team’s plan to release Schobel on Wednesday morning.
