ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) -Reigning MVP Peyton Manning has become the first Colts player to arrive at training camp.
But for the first time since the Colts moved to Indianapolis in 1984, team officials restricted access to players on reporting day. Manning and coach Jim Caldwell were the only people permitted to answer questions, and that was more than four hours before the team’s 2 p.m. reporting deadline.
Neither could definitively answer Indy’s biggest questions – whether Pro Bowl veterans Reggie Wayne and Robert Mathis would arrive on time or whether first-round pick Jerry Hughes would sign his contract in time to practice with his new teammates Monday.
The Colts are practicing at Anderson University, a Division III school about 30 miles north of Indianapolis.
