BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Jake Delhomme has already been anointed the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns.
But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a stadium full of questions surrounding him.
Coming off a miserable season in Carolina where he encountered what one publication delicately called “a 13-month turnover problem,” the former Pro Bowler knows that at the age of 35 he has to prove all over again that he can lead an NFL offense.
Delhomme had 18 interceptions a year ago compared to only eight touchdown passes. He looked old, he looked confused, he looked as if he was done.
But Browns president Mike Holmgren believes Delhomme is a step up from Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn, last season’s quarterbacks. And coach Eric Mangini has confidence in the veteran.
