ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -For the purist, there’s something refreshing about watching a Washington Redskins practice under new coach Mike Shanahan.
Gone are the gimmicks seen under departed coach Jim Zorn. There’s no music blaring. No Z-shades to keep the players out of the sun. No flashy drills. Just lots and lots of plays.
Receiver Devin Thomas calls it “pure football” and says it’s a good change of pace after a 4-12 season. Thomas says the team needs focus and not “all that extra.”
