LATROBE, Pa. (AP) -Ben Roethlisberger already is trying to reshape his battered image, arriving at the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp in a subcompact car rather than an oversized SUV or a loaded-up truck.
Roethlisberger acknowledges he’s glad to be putting his troubled offseason behind him and is looking forward to the season – even though he will be suspended for at least one-quarter of it. Roethlisberger was disciplined by the NFL after being accused of, but not charged with, sexually assaulting a college student.
The two-time Super Bowl winner talked to reporters only briefly after arriving at Saint Vincent College, but even that’s a change from the past as Roethlisberger rarely spoke previously on reporting day. Normally, he ducked reporters by sneaking into camp, but this time he used the main entrance.
Roethlisberger shared a ride to camp in the small car with injured offensive lineman Willie Colon.
