SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -The San Francisco 49ers have signed top draft pick Anthony Davis to a five-year contract, ensuring the offensive tackle and former Rutgers star will be in uniform for Sunday’s first training camp practice.
San Francisco also signed rookie safety Taylor Mays and rookie linebacker Navorro Bowman to four-year deals Friday, the day rookies were due to report to team headquarters.
The 49ers also are counting on their two highly touted offensive linemen draft picks learning in a hurry: 11th choice Davis and No. 17 selection guard Mike Iupati out of Idaho. Coach Mike Singletary expects them to become starters at some point this season.
Iupati is the only remaining draft pick among the 49ers’ eight selections who has yet to sign.
