CORTLAND, N.Y. (AP) – A lot was expected of Dee Milliner last year as the New York Jets’ first-round draft pick.
The cornerback had a rough rookie season, but rebounded with solid play in the final few games.
With Antonio Cromartie gone after signing with Arizona, Milliner might have even more pressure on him in his second season. He’s being counted on to be the Jets’ No. 1 cornerback, a role Rex Ryan insists the former Alabama star is ready for.
Ryan says Saturday that Milliner is ”without question” ready to step up as a solid starter in the NFL and adds that he has ”a ton of confidence” in the young cornerback.
Milliner, who started 12 games last season, says he has two goals: to make plays and ”be a great DB.”
