WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) – Saints coach Sean Payton says the new training camp setup at the Greenbrier resort is ”pretty amazing,” and that a change in environment should be a good thing.
Payton, speaking after the team reported for camp on Thursday, says he’s also pleased the list of players not healthy enough to participate in Friday’s first practice is a short one.
Payton declined to specifically address safety Jairus Byrd’s rehabilitation from back surgery, saying only that he expects Byrd back ”sooner than later.” Payton says the same goes for nose tackle John Jenkins.
As for Jimmy Graham’s return from his long contract holdout, Payton says the star tight end performed so well in the conditioning test that he jokingly told him to spend every offseason at home in Miami.
