NEW YORK (AP) – The New York Jets have placed wide receiver Santonio Holmes on the active-physically unable to perform list, an expected move as he recovers from a serious foot injury that sidelined him most of last season.
Holmes recently said he wasn’t sure if he’d be healthy enough to start participating when the Jets begin training camp practices on Friday. The wide receiver added that he hoped to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Holmes injured his left foot last October and needed two operations to repair it. He has yet to put full weight on the foot while working out on a gravity-assisted treadmill.
The Jets also placed defensive linemen Junior Aumavae and Jake McDonough, and defensive backs Mike Edwards and Rontez Miles on the PUP list Tuesday.
