COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A lawsuit against a gossip website filed by a former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader convicted of having sex with an underage former student has gone to jurors.
Sarah Jones wants damages from thedirty.com and its operator over posts made in 2009 on the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based website.
The posts claimed she had sex with every Bengals player and probably had two sexually transmitted diseases. She says both are false.
Jones' attorney told jurors in closing arguments that the website operator is guilty of malice. The operator's attorney says his client could not know whether the posts were true or false and shouldn't be held accountable.
Both attorneys say the verdict could impact other websites. The posts aren't related to Jones' guilty plea in 2012 to charges she had sex with the teenager.
