ROSCOMMON, Mich. (AP) -Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand has pleaded guilty to driving while impaired.
Officials with the 83rd District Court in Roscommon, Mich., say Lewand entered the plea Friday and was sentenced to six months of probation with $870 in fines and costs.
Lewand was arrested last month after his car was seen crossing from one lane to another after leaving a bar parking lot. Police say his blood-alcohol level was 0.21 percent, twice the state’s legal limit for driving.
Lewand told authorities he was a designated driver picking up a friend, but later apologized and said he will make sure there will be no similar incidents in the future. He was cited in Denton Township, Mich., about 150 miles northwest of Detroit.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said the NFL will review Lewand’s case.
