SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) – A court spokesman says an arrest warrant alleging that San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks hit a teammate with a beer bottle has been shelved at the request of the prosecutors.
Santa Clara County Superior Court spokesman Joe Macaluso says the county district attorney’s office made the request Friday, a day after a judge signed the warrant. A call to the district attorney was not immediately returned Wednesday.
A police application for the warrant says Brooks hit teammate Lamar Divens with the bottle three times and then punched him in the face during an argument on June 8.
The team says it is aware of the allegations, but won’t comment for now.
