JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -The Jacksonville Jaguars have been awarded long-snapper Jeremy Cain off waivers from the Washington Redskins.
Cain, originally signed as an undrafted rookie linebacker by Chicago in 2004, has played in 17 games with the Bears and Tennessee Titans.
In Jacksonville, he will compete with veteran Joe Zelenka for the long-snapper job in training camp. Zelenka has been the team’s long-snapper the last eight seasons, playing in a team-record 128 consecutive games.
Cain was a two-time All-America selection at linebacker at Massachusetts, where he ranked fifth on the school’s career list with 363 tackles.
