TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -Rookie running back Tim Hightower has signed a three-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, becoming the first of the team's seven draft picks to agree to terms.
Financial details of the deal weren't announced Friday.
Hightower, a fifth-round pick, rushed for 1,924 yards and 20 touchdowns last season at Richmond and set 18 school records.
The rushing total ranks as the third-highest total in Colonial Athletic Association history behind only Cardinals teammate Marcel Shipp (2,542 in 1998) and Jerry Azumah (2,195 in 1998). Hightower also set school career records for rushing yards (3,712), all purpose yards (4,560), rushing touchdowns (34) and total touchdowns (39).
