PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cortez Allen is ready to put 2014 behind him.
Allen struggled last season after the Steelers awarded him a five-year, $25 million contract. He finished with two interceptions, but also gave up several big plays.
The Steelers eventually benched Allen and he ended the year on injured reserve with a thumb injury.
The Steelers are hoping Allen can regain his 2013 form this fall. Allen is now one of the longest-tenured members on a secondary that is trying to replace retired stars Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor.
Allen says he knows what he has to work on and is eager to prove himself again.
