CLEVELAND (AP) -Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown is no longer an official executive advisor for the Cleveland Browns.
Brown, regarded as one of the greatest players in NFL history, had served as a consultant for the team and owner Randy Lerner for the past few years. His title has been dropped, but Brown will still be involved with the team, Browns spokesman Neal Gulkis said Thursday.
Brown recently met with new Browns president Mike Holmgren and they agreed Brown will not have an official role.
Gulkis said the 74-year-old Brown will remain active in various programs. He spoke to the team’s rookies during their recent minicamp.
Brown rushed for 12,312 yards during his career with the Browns. He still holds several team records and his No. 32 was retired in 1971, when he was enshrined in Canton, Ohio.
