DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -A person familiar with the arrangement says linebacker Zach Thomas will be signing a ceremonial contract with the Miami Dolphins so he can retire as a member of the team.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because the deal will not be announced until Thursday afternoon. Thomas is to appear at a news conference at the Dolphins’ training facility with other team officials.
Thomas spent 12 seasons with the Dolphins, then played for Dallas in 2008. The seven-time Pro Bowl player was in camp with Kansas City last year. He was released before the season because of undisclosed injury issues.
