BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Before leaving the practice field, Cleveland’s new starting quarterback looked up and noticed the sky was Carolina blue.
Jake Delhomme felt at home.
Eager to erase the memories of a disappointing final season with the Panthers, Delhomme is relishing a new beginning with the Browns, who signed the highly respected 35-year-old veteran during the offseason. With his boyish exuberance, strong work ethic and professionalism, he has already made a strong impression on his new coaches and teammates.
Delhomme, about to enter his 14th season, could have signed elsewhere as a backup. He says he chose the Browns because he wants to bring a winner to Cleveland, a city he described as “hardworking, blue-collar, gritty, football. That’s football, that’s America. You just want to win and help be a part of it.”
