CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is impressed with the progress made by Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson since undergoing a heart transplant.
Goodell stopped by Richardson’s home for about an hour on Tuesday before the commissioner spoke at the Charlotte Touchdown Club. Goodell said the “Big Cat,” as Richardson is called, “will be roaring pretty quick.”
The 72-year-old Richardson got a new heart on Super Bowl Sunday, less than two months after being placed on the transplant list. Goodell said Richardson “looks great” and they discussed several league issues.
Richardson will not be able to attend next week’s league meetings in Florida. Sons Mark and Jon will represent the Panthers.
