MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Darrion Scott was charged with assault and accused of holding a plastic dry cleaning bag over the head of his 2-year-old son.
Scott was charged in Hennepin County Court with third-degree assault and domestic assault by strangulation, both felonies.
According to the complaint, the boy’s mother said Scott said he was playing with the child and wanted to see if the boy could get the bag off his head himself.
Scott was arrested last week after police searched his Eden Prairie town house. He remains in jail, with bond set at $100,000. His first court appearance is scheduled Wednesday.
A call to Scott’s attorney was not immediately returned.
The 26-year-old Scott is a free agent after spending the past four seasons with the Vikings.
