OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -One of the greatest Chicago Bears of all time isn’t happy with his old team’s state of affairs.
During a Tuesday appearance in his hometown of Omaha, Gale Sayers took aim at coach Lovie Smith, quarterback Jay Cutler and personnel moves that left the Bears without a draft pick until the third round.
Sayers said Cutler “hasn’t done the job” and that he has doubts star linebacker Brian Urlacher will be the same player after a season-ending injury last year.
Sayers says he thinks Smith will be fired if the Bears don’t improve in 2010.
Sayers retired in 1971 after a knee injury and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977.
