NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -Lawyers for suspended NFL star Michael Vick say they are making progress on a new bankruptcy plan, but they are not ready yet to submit it to a judge for approval.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank Santoro rejected Vick’s earlier Chapter 11 plan and ordered him to come up with a more realistic one.
Vick’s plan was based largely on his expectation of resuming his pro football career. His lawyer, Paul Campsen, said after Tuesday’s hearing in Norfolk that the new plan will also be based on Vick resuming his NFL career.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has not said whether he will lift Vick’s suspension after the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback finishes serving his 23-month sentence for bankrolling a dogfighting ring.
Santoro scheduled another hearing on Vick’s case for June 9.
