INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indianapolis has re-signed restricted free agent linebacker Jerrell Freeman.
The team says the 6-foot, 240-pound Freeman signed his one-year offer Monday as the Colts began their second week of offseason workouts.
Freeman joined the Colts in 2012 after spending three seasons in the Canadian Football League. Since then, he has been one of Indy’s most productive defenders.
Last season, Freeman was credited by the coaches with 144 tackles, second on the team. He led the Colts in tackles in 2013 and was named AFC defensive player of the week after recording two takeaways in a late-season game against Kansas City. The coaches also credited Freeman with a franchise-record 203 tackles in 2012.
Freeman could become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
