OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) – The Baltimore Ravens have selected Kansas State inside linebacker Arthur Brown with the 56th overall pick in the NFL draft.
Baltimore moved up in a trade with Seattle to get Brown, a 6-foot, 242-pounder who served as a team captain with the Wildcats after transferring from Miami.
Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta calls Brown “a four-down linebacker who’s very good in coverage.”
To get Brown, the Ravens gave Seattle their second-round pick at No. 62, a fifth and a sixth-round selection.
Brown has a chance to fill the middle linebacker spot vacated by Ray Lewis, who retired after Baltimore won the Super Bowl in February.
Brown says, “It’s an opportunity to play a great role in the defense scheme, like Ray did.”
