EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The New York Giants won a Super Bowl with defense, and it looks like they are stockpiling the unit again.
A day after taking South Florida defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul in the first round, the Giants added East Carolina tackle Linval Joseph in the second round and LSU safety Chad Jones in the third round of the NFL draft on Friday night.
General manager Jerry Reese says he wants to improve the team’s defense.
The Giants gave up 427 points last season in missing the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
As opposed to the pass-rushing Pierre-Paul, Joseph is a force who can stop the run. Jones is an athletic safety who has great hands and can return punts.
