DESOTO, Texas (AP) -An agonizing two-hour wait for Dez Bryant has ended happily with the Dallas Cowboys taking him with the 24th pick in the NFL draft.
The former Oklahoma State receiver who grew up two hours east of Dallas kept falling Thursday and wasn’t even the first receiver taken.
He didn’t care, though, when his long-silent cell phone finally rang and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was on the other end.
The call kicked off a raucous celebration and chants of “Cowboys, Cowboys” in the palatial Dallas-area home of one of Bryant’s advisers.
