PITTSBURGH (AP) -The Pittsburgh Steelers return to the practice field Monday for the first time since their 9-7 record wasn’t good enough to get them into the playoffs. Ben Roethlisberger is expected to be among them, taking snaps and going about business as usual.
Only nothing about it will be normal, and no one is trying to disguise that it will be.
The voluntary practice occurs a week since prosecutors decided not to charge Roethlisberger after a college student accused him of sexual assault.
The fallout from the quarterback’s latest off-the-field problem and its effect on a team that regularly contends for championships could be long-lasting.
For now, the Steelers must prepare for a likely Roethlisberger suspension, which could be handed out sometime next week.
