SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Former NFL star Steve Young hopes to build his father a dream cabin in the Utah mountains, but he might just be high and dry.
Young has owned the parcel of land for 20 years but he doesn’t hold the water rights. Nearby Salt Lake City does. And officials aren’t inclined to make an exception to watershed guidelines that have been in place since 1991. That means Young has a nice piece of property but can do little with it since he can’t get water.
Still, Young is continuing to search for a solution, especially after visiting the area last month and hearing his father revel in those glory days when his biggest decision was whether to go to law school or continue being a ski bum in the mountains.
