NEW YORK (AP) – A person familiar with the situation says that former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson is visiting the New York Jets, who are looking to add a playmaker to their backfield.
Johnson was released by the Titans last Monday. The former 2,000-yard rusher is meeting with the team at its facility Tuesday, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Jets don’t make player visits public.
The Jets would like Johnson to team with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell to form a potentially potent trio.
Johnson, who turns 29 in September, is only the sixth player to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first six seasons.
