DETROIT (AP) – The Detroit Lions have been negotiating with Ndamukong Suh in the hopes of signing him to a long-year deal before he potentially becomes a free agent next year.
Lions president Tom Lewand told season-ticket holders on Monday night that talks were ”civil and productive with Suh.
The defensive tackle is entering the last season of his contract.
He has not been attending the team’s voluntary workouts that began last week.
First-year Lions coach Jim Caldwell says he wishes Suh was around ”every minute of every single day,” but added that he has talked to him more than any other player since he was hired.
Detroit defensive coordinator Teryl Austin says Suh is ”worth every penny,” because he can disrupt what offenses want to do in the passing and running game.
