HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) -Former NFL linebacker Lee Woodall is accused of using a $400,000 minority-business loan from a Pennsylvania state agency to finance lavish spending on trips, cars and jewelry.
The state attorney general’s office said Monday that Woodall obtained the loan from the Pennsylvania Minority Business Development Authority to open a Chester County fitness facility in May 2005. He’s charged with theft.
Prosecutors say that in less than a year the money was spent and that Woodall used it to pay for restaurant meals, airfare and other expenses.
Woodall doesn’t appear to have a home phone listing, and court officials say he doesn’t have a lawyer on file.
Woodall’s eight seasons in the NFL included stints with San Francisco, Carolina and Denver.
