FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -The New England Patriots signed free agent Victor Hobson on Monday, bolstering their aging linebacker corps.
Hobson, 28, has spent all five of his seasons with the New York Jets, starting 58 of the 76 games he played. He joins a linebacking group that had Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel and Junior Seau as starters last season. All are over 30.
“Victor is a good young player with considerable playing experience,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in a statement.
Hobson, a second-round draft pick out of Michigan in 2003, started 14 games last year with 62 tackles and two sacks. His best season was 2006, when he had 100 tackles, six sacks and an interception.
