NEW YORK (AP) – The New York Jets have announced that they will hold training camp this summer at their training facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, after spending five of the last six years at SUNY Cortland.
The Jets practiced on the school’s campus, located about three hours northwest from the Jets’ facility, during each summer of former coach Rex Ryan’s tenure, except for 2011 following the NFL lockout.
The team previously held training camp at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, their home from 1968 until 2008, when the Jets moved to Florham Park at the start of the regular season.
While traveling for camp was once common in the NFL, approximately 21 of the league’s 32 teams now stay home to take advantage of new facilities and to keep costs down.
