RENTON, Wash. (AP) -The Seattle Seahawks signed former Tampa Bay linebacker Matt McCoy to a $630,000, one-year contract on Wednesday, adding depth to their defense and special teams.
McCoy’s agent, Orlando Castano Jr., confirmed the contract’s amount to The Associated Press.
The deal includes an undisclosed signing bonus.
The 27-year-old second-round pick of Philadelphia in 2005 played in 12 games, including two starts, last season. It was his second with the Buccaneers. He finished the 2007 season with New Orleans.
The former San Diego State Aztec has made 97 tackles and forced three fumbles in 47 NFL games, 12 of them starts. He has made another 50 tackles on special teams.
It was the third move in three days on Seattle’s defense. The Seahawks re-signed pass rusher Darryl Tapp on Monday. Then on Tuesday they traded Tapp to the Eagles for defensive end Chris Clemons and the Eagles’ fourth-round choice in next month’s draft.
