NEW YORK (AP) – Braylon Edwards has been a star for the New York Jets, and he wants to keep it that way.
The free agent emphasized Monday that he wants to stay with the team and said he believes the interest was mutual. He spoke as he left a Manhattan courthouse after a brief appearance in a drunken-driving case. He denies the charges and is due back in court in May.
Edwards says he felt “the interest is there” among Jets officials in keeping him on the team. And he added: “And, one more time, I love being a Jet.”
Meanwhile, he’s challenging the basis for his September drunken-driving arrest, the reliability of breath tests and other aspects of the case. Authorities say his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
