LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -Nebraska center Jacob Hickman had an invitation to be among more than 300 pro prospects showcasing themselves at the NFL combine in Indianapolis the past several days.
Some scouting services ranked him as high as the No. 10 center available.
Hickman said no.
Playing in the NFL was never a dream for him. As his college career wound down, he thought more about walking away from the game – and he did, after Nebraska’s bowl win over Arizona.
NFL draft consultant Gil Brandt says it happens about every other year: a player expected to be drafted calls it quits after college.
