INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Atlanta Falcons president Rich McKay says the NFL’s competition committee is discussing ways to make football safer but has not yet come up with a proposal.
The committee met for a second straight day in Indianapolis at the site of the league’s annual scouting combine. They have two more days of meetings scheduled in Indy and then will meet again next month in Florida.
Between now and then, McKay anticipates the committee putting together a proposal to highlight player safety. Also on the agenda will be a discussion about how to determine catches and incompletions, a topic that gained national attention after Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson had a catch that appeared to be a touchdown called incomplete.
