ATLANTA (AP) -Glenn Pires was hired as the Atlanta Falcons' linebackers coach Wednesday, filling out new coach Mike Smith's staff.
Pires was an assistant with the Miami Dolphins the last five years, serving as assistant linebackers coach in 2007. Pires was Detroit's linebackers coach for two years (2001-02) and coached linebackers for the Arizona Cardinals for five years (1996-2000).
Also, Billy ``White Shoes'' Johnson was retained as assistant strength and conditioning coach. Johnson will work with new Falcons strength coach Jeff Fish.
