WASHINGTON (AP) – Washington Redskins kick returner Brandon Banks is one of two men who were injured in a stabbing outside a D.C. nightclub.
A Redskins spokesman confirmed that Banks was injured in the incident, which occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday. He was admitted to a hospital in stable condition and remained hospitalized Saturday afternoon.
D.C. police say a man pulled a knife after a verbal argument and stabbed two men. Police did not release the names of the victims but say the other victim was hospitalized in critical condition. The suspect – identified as 24-year-old Jason Shorter of Lanham, Md. – was taken into custody. He’s been charged with assault with intent to kill.
Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie says the team is aware of the incident and is gathering all the facts.
