CINCINNATI (AP) -The Bengals and receiver Matt Jones have agreed on a one-year deal, said a source familiar with the discussions who spoke on condition of anonymity because no contract has been signed.
Jones would be the latest player trying to revive his career in Cincinnati after legal problems. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported the deal would pay him approximately $700,000.
Jones was released by Jacksonville last March after an arrest for violating a plea agreement. He also was charged with cocaine possession in 2008. He didn’t play in the NFL last year.
The Bengals also were considering signing often-suspended cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones after he had a tryout.
