MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Folks in Minnesota have been fighting football frustration: Super Bowl weekend has arrived, but ratings might lag behind around here in light of the latest Vikings loss.
The too-many-men-in-the-huddle penalty in the NFC championship game two weeks ago in New Orleans still stands out. So do those three lost fumbles in that loss to the Saints.
For many fans, this has fueled their belief the franchise is cursed. Their lament has gained plenty of attention, too. One national columnist recently ranked the Vikings second among all-time tortured teams, right behind baseball’s Chicago Cubs.
According to research by STATS LLC, the Vikings have the second-best regular-season winning percentage in sports among franchises without a championship.
