NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A Louisiana high school student says he was sent home for wearing an Indianapolis Colts jersey after the principal encouraged students to wear jerseys supporting the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl.
However, Livingston Parish School Board member Keith Martin says the boy wasn’t sent home. He says the teen was told he couldn’t wear the blue jersey because the school uniform was relaxed only for black and gold.
He says he will ask school attorneys whether that violates the right to free speech, as the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana says it does.
