DALLAS (AP) – Hines Ward and Donald Driver serve as mentors. They have no problems with their disciples surpassing them, either.
Ward and Driver are the veteran pass catchers among a bunch of speedy, big-play youngsters at the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh’s trio of Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders has developed rapidly in great part because of Ward’s input.
Green Bay’s runaway receivers Greg Jennings, James Jones and Jordy Nelson admit they owe their maturity and production to Driver’s guidance.
Ward and Driver simply nod and smile when receiving such praise, pointing out that the Steelers and Packers are in pretty good shape at wideout even if the two old-timers aren’t on the field.
