Modell and DeBartolo were among 17 finalists for Canton, but they failed to make it to the deciding vote Saturday. Also eliminated were former players Tim Brown, Kevin Greene and Will Shields.
The class of 2013 will be picked from the remaining candidates, a group that includes coach Bill Parcells, Michael Strahan, Jonathan Ogden, Jerome Bettis, Cris Carter, Tim Brown, Andre Reed and Charles Haley. An announcement is expected shortly.
