NEW YORK (AP) -New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has decided to have surgery on his left knee and is expected to be ready for training camp.
The Jets said Tuesday the operation will happen in the next few weeks. The surgery will repair the ligament that holds the kneecap in place. Sanchez originally injured his left knee in college at Southern California.
Sanchez, who led the Jets to the AFC title game in his rookie season, will need two months to recover and will miss some early offseason workouts. General manager Mike Tannenbaum has said the quarterback would be ready well before training camp in July if he had surgery.
The Daily News of New York first reported the decision to have surgery.
