The Cardinals own the best grass field in the NFL, a players’ survey shows. The worst? The Pittsburgh Steelers’ surface.
Arizona and Pittsburgh meet in the Super Bowl on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, which was picked as the second-best grass field in the NFL.
The National Football League Players Association conducted the survey, and results were released Thursday.
Another finding: NFL players overwhelming prefer grass to artificial turf, with 71.7 percent voting for a natural surface.
Arizona plays at the University of Phoenix Stadium, where the grass sits outside during the week and is rolled electronically inside for games. The Cardinals drew 829 votes, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ field next at 741.

Indianapolis’ new Lucas Oil Field was chosen the best artificial field, beating Seattle’s Qwest Field. The worst artificial turf was Texas Stadium – that’s no longer a problem for the Dallas Cowboys, who will move into a new building next season.
