A person familiar with the St. Louis Rams’ offensive coordinator search has told The Associated Press that Nathaniel Hackett has pulled out of the running for the job.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity on Wednesday because the Rams have not publicly discussed their plans to replace Brian Schottenheimer. After three seasons in St. Louis, Schottenheimer was hired as Georgia’s offensive coordinator on Jan. 7.
Hackett interviewed with the Rams last week. He spent the past two seasons as the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator. Hackett’s job was placed in jeopardy after Bills coach Doug Marrone opted out of his contract on Dec. 31.
Hackett, who previously worked under Marrone at Syracuse, was not retained by new Bills coach Rex Ryan.
