ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -The Oakland Raiders added two more assistant coaches to their leaderless staff on Wednesday, making Paul Hackett their quarterbacks coach and hiring Dwaine Board to mentor the defensive line.
Oakland still hasn’t named a permanent head coach since finishing the regular season 5-11 under interim coach Tom Cable, who went 4-8 and led the Raiders to back-to-back victories to end the season.
The Raiders have hired several assistant coaches in recent weeks, which suggests owner Al Davis is likely to end up keeping Cable at the helm. Cable represented the Raiders at the Senior Bowl in Alabama last week.
Hackett, a 40-year coaching veteran, assisted the Raiders’ coaching staff with special projects last season. The former head coach at USC and offensive coordinator with the Jets and Kansas City will be in charge of JaMarcus Russell’s development in Oakland.
