TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Running back J.J. Arrington returned to practice for the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday after sitting out all of last week with a sore right knee.
Arrington said earlier in the day he was going to “give it a try” in an attempt to be ready for Sunday’s Super Bowl.
The former Cal standout, who became an increasingly important part of Arizona’s offense as the season progressed, was injured late in the first half of the Cardinals’ 32-25 victory over Philadelphia in the NFC championship game.
Arrington, linebacker Travis LaBoy (biceps) and Antonio Smith (knee) were limited in practice.
Wide receiver Anquan Boldin showed no ill effects of the strained left hamstring that kept him out of Arizona’s 33-13 divisional playoff victory over Carolina.
Boldin played against Philadelphia, but was held back a bit in workouts early last week.
“He looked good today and he also looked good late last week,” Whisenhunt said.
The Cardinals went through a fast-paced, 2-hour, 15-minute workout at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice facility.
cally, we are trying to keep to the same routine as we possibly can. For the last four weeks our (practice) tempo has been good as it has been all season,” Whisenhunt said.
The team had 20 minutes of walkthroughs followed by 12 minutes of special team work. In the remainder of the drills, the players were in helmets and shoulder pads and shorts.
