MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Vikings great Carl Eller has been convicted of assault on a police officer and refusing to take a sobriety test.
A Hennepin County district judge announced the ruling Monday. Eller’s attorney, Albert Goins, says he won’t comment until reading the written ruling.
The 67-year-old Eller was convicted of the two gross misdemeanors that arose from a clash with Minneapolis police officers in April
Sentencing is scheduled Feb. 23.
Two more serious charges against Eller were dropped earlier this month in a deal with prosecutors.
Two police officers say Eller attacked and threatened them after they tried to pull him over April 9 for suspected drunken driving.
